Description

TITLE: Assistant Controller

DEPARTMENT: Finance

REPORTS TO: Controller

JOB SUMMARY:

Compiles and prepares financial information for analysis.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Thoroughly understand and adhere to organizational goals, objectives, and strategy

  • Assist with preparing annual budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective action if necessary

  • Comply with federal, state and local legal requirements 

  • Adhere to and enforce internal controls, conduct audits and provide information to external auditors

  • Responsible for cost accounting and procedures in order to ensure proper pricing and corresponding profitability levels for the company

  • Engineering project costing

  • Daily Banking / Cash Flow

  • Assist with accounts payable as needed

  • Serve as a backup to the Lead Accountant 

  • Assist with inventory test counts / audits

  • Assist with financial audits

  • Develop / Learn Controller tasks and daily activities to serve as a backup

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

  • This is a full-time position.  Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

TRAVEL:

  • Travel is rare, but would primarily be local during the business day. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experienced in finance and accounting with extensive manufacturing and cost accounting experience

  • Flexible, energetic, forward-thinking, and creative with a high moral and ethical standards

  • High analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus

  • Well organized and self-directed

  • Able to relate to people at all levels of the organization in a positive fashion

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • A good educator who is trustworthy and willing to share information and ideas and serve as a mentor

  • Experienced in all phases of financial accounting, cost accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general ledger

  • Thoroughly understand banking relationships and help maintain/support keeping good relationships

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience
