In-House Patent Attorney

Logitech has a fast growing intellectual property portfolio and is looking to add a dynamic patent attorney to their IP team. This is a rare in-house position for a mid-level professional looking to move beyond daily patent drafting and into managing the development of a global patent portfolio. You will have a unique opportunity to work closely with our global team of skilled engineers, and travel to our Innovation Center in Lausanne Switzerland. In addition to portfolio management, you will have opportunities to broaden your professional skill-set by assisting with litigation and M&A activities, conducting landscape and freedom to operate studies, and helping to shape our overall IP strategy.


• Implementing Logitech's Global IP Strategy, working with engineering and business leaders

• Based in our Newark, California office, with a strong emphasis on supporting our engineering groups based in Europe

• Facilitate and lead invention review and mining sessions

• Conduct patent landscaping and freedom to operate studies

• Manage the disclosure and filing process with outside patent counsel

• Assist with litigation, enforcement, and M&A activities

• Provide global training to inventors and business leaders regarding IP issues and protecting our inventions

• Assist with maintaining our internal docket and invention disclosure databases

Necessary Requirements

• Patent attorney with 3-5 years of experience, plus an engineering degree in EE, ME, or CS

• Admission to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)

• Experience drafting and prosecuting patents in a law firm or in-house legal department

• Proven project management and relationship building skills across different geographies/cultures and disciplines

• Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams

• Flexible schedule to accommodate working with teams based in Europe and Asia on daily basis

• Up to 25% travel - frequent extended trips to engineering office located in Switzerland (up to 2-consecutive weeks per quarter)

Desired Background/Skills

• Intellectually curious, with a passion for consumer electronics, gadgets, and emerging technologies

• 2-5 years of practical engineering experience

• Conversant in French

• Background with foreign filing and international IP strategy
