TAD PGS INC. is currently seeking a Staff Manufacturing Engineer for one of clients in San Diego, CA. Company Description: Our Client is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. Job Overview: Support the design (DFM), first article, production, test, and system integration of Printed Wiring Assemblies and Line Replaceable Units for all UAV platforms including Ground Control Stations (GCS). Assemblies will include surface mount as well as through hole technology and mechanical assembly. Job Responsibilities: *Responsible for manufacturing process development, implementation, and continuous improvement to enhance Quality / Yield, reduce Cost, and improve Productivity / Schedule. Initiate and lead lean manufacturing process improvement projects. *Specify and implement automation equipment and processes. *Identify and assist in addressing safety issues on the manufacturing floor. *Support manufacturing production planning and coordination, execution and operations process development. *Provide production support to assemblers and leads. *Document manufacturing processes and assembly work instructions in conjunction with T&O Planning. *Design shop aids and tooling to assist production. *Disposition non-conforming parts, identify root cause, and implement corrective and/or preventive action to reduce scrap and rework. *Collaborate with Design Engineering during prototype, development and first article manufacturing. Basic Hiring Criteria: *Minimum of nine years of verifiable engineering experience with a Bachelors degree. Desired Qualifications: *Experience with IPC & MIL standards, including: IPC/WHMA-A-610 and 620 , J-STD-001 - Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies, MIL-STD-1553 - Digital Time Division Command/Response Multiplex Data Bus, MIL-STD-1760 - Aircraft Electrical Interconnection System, SAE-AS39029 (MIL-C-39029)- Experience implementing capital equipment in factory environment. *Experience with MRP systems, eg SAP or MTO/WDS. Experience with Microsoft Office Project and Visio. *Experience with programming. *Experience with databases, e.g. Oracle and FileMaker. Knowledge of SQL. *Experience with process mapping and demand flow technology. *Strong background in electro-mechanical assemblies. *Six Sigma Green Belt. *Masters degree or PhD in engineering. *A Professional Engineering License, original work(s) published in professional engineering journals, and invited to present one or more original works to an engineering symposium are desirable. *Able to work extended hours as required. *Customer focused, formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems. *Strong communication and presentation skills are required enabling an effective interface with other departments and/or professionals, and capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact, as well as providing leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals. *Expertise in assembly methods and processes, including surface mount technology, through hole technology, mechanical assembly, and testing. Experience in both analog and digital technologies as well as a background with RF. *Experience with development and deployment of manufacturing automation and remaining current with technology. *Experience with Electrical Schematics and Circuit Diagrams; Drawings and BOMs; Assembly Instructions; Engineering Change systems; Quality systems for non-conforming parts and corrective action. Experience with Lean Manufacturing methodologies for waste reduction, e.g.: 5S, Standard Work, TAKT, Pull System, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, cell design, and manufacturing flow. *Clearly and effectively communicate both verbally and in written form to both technical and non-technical audiences, especially regarding manufacturing processes, engineering issues and proposed changes, and quality issues and dispositions. *Ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment. *Demonstrates an extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadership.
