Position Summary: Perform routine laboratory tasks including mixing, coating and testing of coated materials. Follow production trials of developmental products, collect run data and samples for testing. Keep detailed notes of all work performed and create reports as required. Maintain database of all materials tested and results.

- Perform mixing of experimental adhesive systems.
- Coat experimental adhesive systems on a laboratory scale.
- Test resulting coatings and report data.
- Accurately document the results of the lab work and testing.
- Follow trials on production equipment during scale up phase.
- Maintain all controlled document files and test records in a timely and accurate manner.
- Participate in development of all test equipment and fixtures
- Learn to operate analytical instruments and perform required tests
- Monitor critical equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper operation and calibration.
- Assist in the writing and updating of lab and trial reports.
- Evaluate problems and make initial recommendations for possible corrective action.
- Must be able to perform both detailed work and repetitive work to succeed at the development tasks required.
- Work in accordance to Coroplast’s Health, Safety and Housekeeping guidelines.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Education/Experience: High School diploma or equivalent. Some college level coursework in a technical field such as Engineering, Chemistry, Physics and/or Mathematics. College level General Chemistry is essential with at least one semester of Organic Chemistry highly desirable. An Associate’s degree or two years of college completion is preferred. A working knowledge of measurement instruments. One year experience in working in an R&D environment. Schedule flexibility is very important in this position.
Language Ability: Read and interpret documents such as schematics, drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports.
Mathematical Ability: Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals and metric system. Use of scientific notation and significant figures is highly desirable. Some formal training with elementary statistics is preferred.
Reasoning Ability: Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: Basic computer skills required. General proficiency of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
Certificates and Licenses: No certifications needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; hot systems and adhesives; outdoor weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. This position will require working with materials in fume hoods and enclosures. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
