Operations Manager

We are searching for an experienced Operations Manager at our USA facility.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervisory Responsibility: Direct reports: all Production Managers, including (not limited to):Finishing Manager, Pressroom Manager, Shipping Manager, Sheeter Manager, MaintenancePosition Summary: In accordance with company policies, performs all functions of personnel management to deliver Fort Dearborn's World Class Service model. This requires obtaining and utilizing an in depth knowledge of our customer's and products that we produce for them by demonstrating analytical thinking, comprehending the use of Fort Dearborn's business systems and exceptional communication skills. Directs the manufacturing, maintenance, warehousing, and distribution operations to achieve plant production goals and efficiency measurements. Directs the general business activities to facilitate problem solving and prioritize work demands among departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Direct the efforts of plant supervision to ensure the consistent application of policies, procedures, and plant rules (may include the terms of a collective bargaining agreement).

Creates and maintains an environment in which supervisors and employees can efficiently utilize their skills, fulfill their responsibilities and maximize their potential.

Develops and monitors the repair and preventive maintenance programs for equipment to achieve maximum running speeds while safeguarding corporate assets.

Monitors and communicates safety and quality programs and assures compliance with company policies and government regulations.

Stays abreast of new trends and developments in methods, techniques, equipment, tools, materials, and supplies, which might be incorporated into the production process to increase efficiency or better use of resources.

Develops budget and cost controls for all plant operational activities.

Reviews and analyzes production operational reports to determine causes of deviance from budget.

Coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets customer specifications.

Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operations, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.

Compiles, stores and retrieves production data.

As an integral member of the site leadership team, participates in decision-making particularly in matters related to purchases and production.

Acts as an ambassador and role model for team members.

Researches and recommends capital equipment purchases.

Works closely with the General Manager to continue to develop and enhance the facilities throughput

Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications -Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

The minimum education required for this position is a Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or Production Management.Six to seven years' experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Strong skills verbal and written communications skills, supervisory experience, PC and analytical skills; knowledge of the converting industry as well as pricing and marketing skills.

Expert knowledge of manufacturing knowledge is required.

Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, methods and practices.

This position requires high level computer skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; prior management experience and technical printing knowledge helpful.

Ability to travel within North America and outside North America

This position requires the incumbent to drive a motor vehicle, use color vision, hearing, sitting for prolonged periods, speaking and articulating, on a constant basis, stand walk use hands to finger, handle or feel ; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.

This position requires the incumbent to stoop, kneel or crouch or and lift/ and or move up to 10 lbs on an infrequent basis
