Slitter Machine Operator


We are searching for an experienced machine operator at our Bowling Green facility.

Fort Dearborn Company, a leader in the prime label printing industry, is expanding in Bowling Green, KY. Our Bowling Green facility has an immediate opening for Slitter Machine Operator.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

The Slitter Machine Operator responsibilities include slitting of finished rolls of labels to width and number of labels per customer specifications, meeting safety, production and quality standards and interacting with other departments to achieve company core strategies.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Completes required documentation in an accurate and prompt manner.
  • Slits finished rolls of labels to width and number of labels per customer specifications.
  • Monitors roll profile.
  • Mounts rolls onto slitter machine; performs in-process inspection; segregates defects and labels.
  • Measures and cuts cores to required dimensions.
  • Assists in maintaining equipment for optimal operation, including adjustments.
  • Performs preventive maintenance as required.
  • Complies with established facility safety policies and procedures and other regulations (IE: BRC, GMPs, HAACP) as applicable.
  • Interacts and behaves professionally. Treats all associates respectfully and professionally while maintaining company code of ethics.
  • Maintains daily housekeeping efforts which may include painting and cleaning of facility
    (interior and exterior).
  • Travels as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Previous machine operator experience preferred.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to communicate with other associates, customers and vendors.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to understand and complete detailed written and/or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have basic knowledge of computers and business operating systems.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, and fumes, chemical substances and airborne particles and varying temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud to loud. The facility is clean and climate controlled.
