Doherty Top Talent is partnering with a law firm in Golden Valley, MN for this exciting, direct hire opportunity! We are seeking qualified candidates for a Legal Assistant role. The Legal Assistant will support the Commercial and Hourly Departments, collectively known as the Department, and will be focused on business-to-business transaction and litigation-related subject matter. This position will provide support to the attorneys and various Department staff in all states that the Firm operates. Compensation for this role is $38,000-$40,000 annually, depending on experience.

This law firm was formed in 1997 to assist businesses with their fiscally driven matters. Their practice blend is designed to support businesses within the fluctuating economy and throughout the business lifecycle. Throughout the years, the practice has expanded in practice discipline and growth from Minneapolis, MN to include offices in Arizona, Iowa, Nebraska, Utah, Wisconsin, and California.

    •Review, draft, file, and serve pleadings and correspondence in a fast- paced environment; •Prepare client files for all phases of the litigation process including, but not limited to, motion practice, mediation/arbitration, and trial; •Assist and maintain the Dept. calendar by scheduling various appointment and motion practice; •Enter attorney/paralegal time on time entry software; •Generate and remit hourly bills on a monthly basis; •Conduct conflict checks; draft legal services agreements for onboarding of new clients; •Handle client communication, including inquiries from new or existing clients, and accurately provide client updates when requested or at the direction of the Dept.'s manager or attorneys; •Prepare and remit various post-judgment pleadings and correspondence; •E-file through Odyssey •Scan, photocopy, collate, and fax •All other duties as may be assigned

    •1-5 years of legal assistant experience at a law firm, collection agency, or in-house positions •Must adhere to the Firm's core values: Do right, achieve results, maintain integrity. •Ability to multitask •High level of attention to detail •Excellent communication and organizational skills •Ability to prioritize deadlines and commitments •Self-Starter and forwarder thinker •Experience with Microsoft Office suite, particularly with Excel, Word, and Microsoft Outlook required •Knowledge of CLS collection software is a plus •Ability to extract information from the firm's software to create reports or summaries for managing attorneys and or the Director of the Department •75+ WPM typing skills •Pass pre-employment drug screening, credit check, and background check with no felonies
