Description

This position is responsible for overseeing the wind and solar accounting activities for Avangrid Renewables (ARL), which includes Tax Equity Investments. This position will be primarily responsible for the completeness, accuracy, and proper classification of income statement reporting for ARL renewable facilities, tax equity fiscal responsibilities, joint venture fiscal responsibilities, maintenance of related account reconciliations, and the effectiveness of internal controls in this area.
MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Lead the day-to-day activities and month-end close cycle of the wind and solar accounting team focused on gross margin; operations, maintenance, administrative, and general expenses. 2. Supervise all aspects of Tax Equity accounting (HLBV), including day-to-day entries, partner distributions, financial statement preparation, budget preparation, and standalone financial statement audit support. 3. Oversee all aspects of Joint Venture accounting, including day-to-day entries, payroll management, vendor payments, partner distributions, financial statement preparation, budget preparation, and standalone financial statement audit support. 4. Plan and structure work activities and set deadlines for the team; subsequently monitor the progress and results. 5. Work with the financial accounting and business controls teams in account requests, month-end close, internal controls, year-end processes and other items. 6. Direct efforts in developing, implementing, and maintaining systems, procedures and policies for the group. 7. Review journal entries and analyze for appropriate accounting treatment. 8. Authorize payment requests for joint venture payments and partnership distributions. 9. Review balance sheet account reconciliations prepared by accountants for accuracy and completeness and correction of reconciling items. 10. Participate in and coordinate external and internal audits for your area of responsibility. 11. Ensure compliance with all SOX responsibilities affecting your area of responsibility, including ensuring the effectiveness of controls design and operation, effectively documenting management review controls, and ensuring
IPE standards are met. 12. Responsible for staffing, professional development and providing input to management on the team's overall performance. 13. Ensure external and internal short and long term deliverables are aligned with senior management directives and clearly communicated to team. Manage team to required deadlines.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 7 years of direct accounting or financial experience as relates to the job description.
• Sound understanding of GAAP and/or IFRS, including application.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Exemplary skill with Microsoft Excel.
• Self-motivated.
• Previous management experience and strong leadership skills
• Experience influencing and effectively using interpersonal skills to communicate effectively at all levels
• Experience explaining concepts clearly and concisely in order to ensure stakeholders fully understand results
Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA license and/or graduate business degree
• Energy experience
• Systems experience in SAP
