Liberia is one of the oldest republics in Africa, but also one of its poorest...

As a country it has suffered from many years of civil war and, more recently, the devastation of the Ebola crisis in 2014.

Many people live below the poverty line with little access to electricity and running water.

MAF has been working in Liberia for a number of years providing essential support as the only humanitarian flight service in the country.

We now have an opportunity for someone to lead and direct our Liberia programme

You will be responsible for the overall management in the programme by leading, motivating, inspiring, encouraging and developing the staff to support their well-being and effective performance.

You will take the lead on developing partnerships with current and potential customers always providing a high standard of care to all in order to provide an effective ministry.

You will be expected to participate as a member of the Liberia International NGO Forum (LINGO) in monthly meetings and related activities and maintain government liaison.

You will ensure that air services in the programme are conducted in a safe, reliable and financially responsible manner in accordance with policies, directives and management practices of MAF and the National Aviation Authorities .

All activities in the programme must be carried out within the approved annual budget and this will be done by monitoring the programme budget and taking appropriate corrective actions as necessary. You will also assess legal and financial risks and ensure systems are in place to prevent and detect financial loss and fraud.

You will ensure visas, taxes, work permits are upto date.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience


University graduate or equivalent experience

Excellent spoken and written English

Aptitude in verbal, numerical and abstract reasoning

Team management and/or project management experience

Experience of living and working in a developing country

Experience of working in an aviation or related field

There is an occupational requirement for overseas staff to be committed Christians, sent and supported by their home Church, and able to support and promote the Christian ethos and beliefs of MAF as a mission organisation through taking part in Christian activities such as Church events, prayer meetings etc. All roles (unless otherwise specified) require some personal support raising to be carried out under the guidance and training of MAF UK.
