Position Summary:

Responsible for general accounting duties such as recording general ledger entries, preparing reconciliations, and performing month-end procedures, as needed. Responsibilities include accounting for funding and purchases, income recognition, recording of expenses, reporting and reconciliations. This position requires adherence to tight deadlines and accuracy standards involving a high volume of detail transactions. It requires interaction with senior-level Managers, which necessitates strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.

Essential/Primary Job Functions:

  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
  • Prepare journal entries, as needed
  • Prepare reconciliations of both general accounts and checking accounts involving high volumes of transactions
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
  • Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information
  • Manage the daily banking requirements
  • Support budget and forecasting activities as needed
  • Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Respond to inquiries from the Controller and Assistant Controller regarding financial results and special reporting requests
  • Assist Controller with timely year-end audit
  • Cross-train on other duties within the department to be able to cover for absences, as needed

Compliance Accountability:

  • Responsible for compliance with all regulations, laws, and mortgage policies and procedures that pertain to your day-to-day job responsibilities
  • Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of all compliance regulations pertinent to your assigned duties by successful completion of any courses assigned on a timely basis

Job Requirements for Essential/Primary Job Functions:

  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain detailed records
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to reliably work with confidential data

Education/Work Experience:

  • BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting preferred or relevant experience
  • 2+ years’ experience in the financial reporting/general ledger area preferred
