Short-Term- Management Accountant - PNG (Accommodation plus living allowance provided)

Papua New Guinea

Accounting, Management and Executive

Full-time, Contract, Temporary

Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is an organisation using light aircraft to deliver help and hope in over 30 developing countries. MAF transports patients, relief workers, produce and medical supplies to the world’s remotest regions and places of deepest human need – places where flying is not a luxury but a lifeline.

Papua New Guinea is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world. It is also very rural, as only 18 percent of its people live in urban centres and the rest live in very remote areas with no transportation options due to the nation's tough terrain. In this very busy and demanding environment, we now require a Management Accountant to work alongside our Finance Manager to cover the legal and fiscal aspects of the programme. This exciting new role is an important one, which will see you ensure the reconciliation of inter company transactions done with MAF.

You will need to be a 'numbers person' who can support the day-to day financial management of the programme. Your ability to analyse figures will aid in the monthly preparation of management accounts and support the preparation of annual budgets. Being a systematic thinker, you will also assist the Finance Manager with writing policies, procedures and deputise in their absence.

Your role will be to actively uphold finance policy and procedures. You will do this by helping to improve internal controls and giving appropriate finance input to management meetings.  Other duties will include assisting with credit control, filing Goods and Services Tax (GST) and carrying out internal audits.

The successful applicant will be expected to take part in and lead prayer and biblical reflection, and to be a role model for the organisation in accordance with our Christian beliefs and standards in the workplace.

There is an occupational requirement for overseas staff to be committed Christians, sent and supported by their home Church, and able to support and promote the Christian ethos and beliefs of MAF as a mission organisation through taking part in Christian activities such as Church events, prayer meetings etc. All roles (unless otherwise specified) require some personal support raising to be carried out under the guidance and training of MAF UK.
