VP Controller
Exempt Employee Full-Time Senior Management

The VP Controller will manage the accounting and financial reporting functions of CoastHills Credit Union. The successful candidate will work closely with the EVP Chief Financial Officer and members of the leadership team to implement policies, procedures and action plans that support the strategic direction of the credit union. The Controller will be the Subject Matter Expert for all topics relating to accounting and financial reporting. The EVP Chief Financial Officer, VP Controller, and VP Finance will develop close partnerships will all lines of business and provide excellent service and decision support to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field is required.
Minimum of five years’ experience as a Controller or equivalent in a credit union, community bank or similar financial institution.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) accreditation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting standards for credit Unions and/or community financial institutions.
Skilled in solving problems and generating data driven analyses and insights.
Enjoys generating, interpreting, summarizing, and presenting on financial and statistical data.
Ability to balance multiple projects and complete time-sensitive work under deadlines.
Familiarity with various GL software systems, databases, and analytic platforms.
Comfortable manipulating large data sets.
Supervisory Skills and Abilities
Experience managing, motivating and developing junior and professional staff, including aspiring CPAs.
Knowledge and experience in promoting teamwork and eliminating barriers to effectively working within the Department and across CoastHills’ organizational structure.

Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to be bonded.
Ability to travel, attend, and participate in meetings, seminars, and conferences held before and after normal business hours that may require unaccompanied long-distance travel and overnight lodging.
