Deputy Operations Manager/Pilot - South Sudan
MAF has been serving in South Sudan for many years, working with its partners to help provide essential food and medical supplies to this country. In the South Sudan programme, MAF operates five Cessna Caravans efficient in shuttle services and charters. To ensure we keep these in operation, we now require a Deputy Operations Manager who will actively be involved in supporting and improving existing processes at our base. Your role will also involve deputising in the absence of the Operations Manager by providing inspired leadership. and occassionally, you will also be required to to fufill flying duties.
You will need to be a strong role model for the operations team members, providing encouragement, motivation and development plans and acting on behalf of the manager during leave, etc. As a member of the management team you will also have a key role in the overall management in relation to training, monitoring of staff attendance, absence and leave and ensuring high level of standards are met at all times.
You will also provide an effective flight service so that every flight is monitored and appropriate emergency action is taken if required, ensuring MAF regulatory requirements are met in order to generate, retain and communicate with partners. Oversee an effective system of flight reservations scheduling, invoicing and ensuring timely communication with partners.
The job holder will have completed a recognised operations and flight dispatch course, have aviation experience including a valid and recognised pilot licence together with previous management experience. Note this position involves on call standby, the post holder must be readily contactable and live in close proximity to the operations . The role sometimes involves working late, weekends and holidays.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- ICAO Commercial Pilots License with instrument rating
- Aviation medical - Class 1
- Excellent higher level education
- Completion of recognised operations and flight dispatch course
- Experience and recent proficiency in the operation of small aircraft to CPL standards.
- Previous cross cultural management experience
- Excellent problem solving and communication skills
There is an occupational requirement for overseas staff to be committed Christians, sent and supported by their home Church, and able to support and promote the Christian ethos and beliefs of MAF as a mission organisation through taking part in Christian activities such as Church events, prayer meetings etc. All roles (unless otherwise specified) require some personal support raising to be carried out under the guidance and training of MAF UK.
