Description

The primary responsibility of the Sr. Sanitation Technician position is to clean and sanitize the facility’s floors and equipment on a scheduled basis.  This position works with Leads and Supervisors (both Production and Sanitation/QA) to ensure all sanitation is accomplished according to established procedures and schedules to meet department demands, and ensures documentation is completed as required. This position will be asked to lead sanitation projects with a team of sanitation and/or operations employees, to accomplish the sanitation objectives of the plant.

Position Summary:

This position works with Leads and Supervisors (both Production and Sanitation/QA) to ensure all sanitation is accomplished according to established procedures and schedules to meet department demands, and ensures documentation is completed as required. This position will be asked to lead sanitation projects with a team of sanitation and/or operations employees, to accomplish the sanitation objectives of the plant.


Principle Accountabilities:
1. Maintains an acceptable level of cleanliness on all production and packaging equipment and work areas.
2. Eliminates any garbage, debris and waste on the floor or on the production equipment.
3. Must be able to lead and direct other people in cleaning any part of the plant, which may include janitorial tasks.
4. Must be willing to take responsibility for the effectiveness of clean-ups. This includes both minimizing the time required while ensuring effective cleaning, and the safety of all involved.
5. Must be able to read and follow chemical labels and review MSDS’s to obtain appropriate hazard information and safety statements. Must be able to follow mixing instructions for chemicals used in cleaning and sanitizing of equipment.
6. Will be responsible for the completion of all sanitation paperwork for the project and/or shift they oversee.
7. Able to scrub equipment if needed to clean with scrub pads, brushes ect. Also need to be able to disassemble equipment for cleaning and reassemble when finished.
8. Must understand how to follow up on environmental presumptive positives.
9. Must be able to conduct a line inspection and sign-off that a line is ready to run.
10. Must be self-driven and utilize time effectively.
11. Must be an advocate for good sanitation in operational meetings.
12. Must be an authority on, and will be responsible for, the proper control and use of hazardous chemicals.
13. Will be a go-to person in effectively communicating with operations leadership, QA leadership and the crews and supervisors on the shift they are working with.
14. Able to be trained in the Lockout and Tagout program to be an Authorized person.
15. Willing to work any shift for clean up and startup, may include holidays, and weekends. Must be able to use good judgment in the absence of the Lead or Supervisor.
16. Must be able to learn and understand Master Sanitation Schedules, Bar Code System, Usage Logs, etc.

17. Able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities with efficiency and accuracy while working independently and professionally.

Qualifications/Required Skills for the Position:

Education and/or Experience:
Previous experience working around processing equipment preferred. Able to read and comprehend work related material such as; Master Sanitation Program, Usage logs, Additive logs Ect.

Language Skills:
Exhibits effective oral communication skills when communicating with supervisor and co-workers. Works well with others and communicates in a positive manner. Reads, comprehends, and performs the cleaning instructions for each piece of equipment as required.

Computer Skills:
Essential computer skills using Windows applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook and E-mail. Bar code inventory system.

Reasoning Ability:
Possesses self-confidence and maturity to make decisions and to solve problems with minimal direction.

Interpersonal Skills:
Team player, flexible and accepts changing assignments and accountabilities.

Safety:
Follows all safety precautions while working independently and professionally. Keeps work area clean. Must be able to wear proper PPE while performing job duties. Could be required to use any of the following PPE: wet suit, rubber boots & gloves, safety goggles, dust mask, and or respirator.

Work Environment:
This position requires the ability to perform various physical activities such as heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.), standing on concrete floors for extended periods, moving equipment and supplies, all in a loud noise environment. Utilizes cleaning chemicals and sanitizers safely. Wears personal protective equipment as needed for assigned tasks. Physically able to climb stairs repetitively and carry loads upstairs when required. Able to work different shifts.
