Description

Qualifications/Know How:
The position requires a person eighteen (18) years of age or older with a high school
diploma or GED. Residential Trainers/Companion-Sitters must possess good
organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills, basic computer skills and
the ability to keep accurate and timely records. Experience with individuals with
disabilities preferred. The ability to work cooperatively with persons served and their
friends and families, community agencies, supervisor, other staff members, and the
general public is required. Residential Trainers/Companion-Sitters must complete all
new hire training within the first ninety (90) days of employment. The employee must
also possess a valid Georgia driver’s license and the ability to continuously meet the
requirements of VOASE’s vehicle insurance company.

Principal Activities:
1. Provide continuous supervision, instruction, encouragement and
reinforcement to individuals we support with a focus on their right to
be treated with dignity and respect.

2. Provide life enhancement assistance to persons served as specified in
Individual Service Plans, and understand ISP’s are to be highly
individualized reflecting the diversity of persons served. Help
empower persons served to exercise informed choice.

3. Document daily progress notes, attainment of Individual Service Plan
goals and incidents in an accurate, thorough and timely manner.

4. Understand and strictly adhere to confidentiality regulations and
procedures.

5. Implement preventative techniques to assist with management of
individuals’ health and safety.

6. Monitor behavior and mental status of persons served; notify Program
Manager, Site Coordinator or designee of changes.

7. Supervise individual’s self-administration of medication as prescribed.

8. Promptly report repair needs of the facility or equipment.

9. Transport service recipients to appointments and activities.

10. Participate in training and staff meetings as required and in a timely
manner.

11. Report any known exposure to TB or hepatitis to the Program
Manager, Site Coordinator or designee immediate
