Description

AMT is making headlines as one of the fastest growing automation integrators. As a result of this growth, we are adding to our automation application engineering team. We are looking for individuals who have knowledge and skills to conceptualize, estimate costs, and support the design, proposal, and development processes required to execute automated robotic systems.

 Job Summary:

The Applications Engineer (AE) works with the sales and proposal team to evaluate qualified customer opportunities for automation. The AE works with engineering teams to conceptualize and formulate designs for automated systems and works closely with sales to gather data to properly estimate all engineering and systems costs according to specifications. The AE plays a key role in determining the necessary resources required based on cost estimates and budgetary constraints and works closely with the engineering execution team during the pre-engineering and initial design and proposal phases.

 

Job Duties:

The duties may include but are not limited to:

 Support sales with customer line ups and the evaluation of qualified automation opportunities

  • Collaborate with engineering departments to prepare detailed and accurate proposals.
  • Work with engineering teams to develop & propose automation systems design according to customer requirements.
  • Create system layout, tooling concepts, and simulations as part of technical pre-engineering and proposal deliverable.
  • Create project proposals.
  • Create project cost estimates.
  • Present design solutions that exceed customer’s expectations, highlighting competitive advantages
  • Support the transition of proposals to the project execution team.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

  • Authorization to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred.
  • Three+ years of experience with processing & estimating costs for robotic automation systems or material handling systems
  • Three + years of experience designing material handling systems or other automated systems.
  • Outstanding communication and organizational skills and the ability to work in a challenging environment.
  • Proficiency in Solidworks and Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with simulations tools such as Roboguide, Visual Components
  • Background in machine vision is a plus.
