Description

Responsible for maintaining the facility per contract standards. Responsible for the safe operation of equipment to perform the scope of work.

WAGES: $17.20/hr.

LOCATION: Vanwey Dining Hall, Tinker Air Force Base

QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in food service or completion of a certified food training program is preferred but not necessary.

HIRING REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Must be able to pass background checks that are required to enter work site and any other background check agency deems necessary
  • Must meet badge requirements for all assigned buildings.
  • Must meet AbilityOne eligibility requirements as a person with a significant disability, if applicable

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have regular and punctual attendance
  • Must be able to work independently

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Standing up to 8 hours
  • Able to move maximum weight of 50 pounds vertically*
  • Able to move maximum weight of 25 pounds horizontally*
  • Able to relocate above described weights a maximum distance of 100 feet*
  • The position requires standing, walking, twisting, reaching, bending, crouching, and kneeling.  May also grasp, push, pull, drag and lift equipment and other items.
  • Must have mobility, vision, and dexterity levels, appropriate to the duties to be performed
  • Additional physical requirements to be considered depending on the area assigned.

*NOTE:  Employee will be coached for lifting more than maximum weight or for non-use of required safety equipment. Weights of items exceeding max weight capacity require two-person lifting.

JOB CONDITIONS:

  • This position is scheduled on a weekly basis.  There are no consistent working hours, schedules will vary. 
  • The work week is Saturday through Friday with a thirty minute meal break.  Breaks are given when schedules allow.  Some positions will require individual to work a split shift. 
  • This position is non-exempt and receives overtime pay at one and one half times the regular rate of pay for all hours worked over 40 hours in a workweek beginning Saturday 12:00am through Friday midnight.
  • The Food Service Worker will rotate responsibilities to include Clipper/Ware Washer and Grounds.

CERTIFICATION OR TRAINING REQUIRED (At Agency’s Expense)

  • DRTC/Tinker Federal Contract’s Food Sanitation and Safety course

RESPONSIBILITIES - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performing preparation duties such as rinsing, peeling, slicing and dicing fruit and vegetables.
  • Weighing and measuring ingredients.
  • Wrapping, date-labeling and storing food items.
  • Cleaning and organizing work areas, equipment, utensils and service station.
  • Following established recipes to prepare menu items.
  • Following guidelines to ensure correct serving temperatures and adequate portion control.
  • Serving customers in fast, efficient and friendly manner.
  • Providing customers with information regarding food ingredients, availability and pricing.
  • Escalating customer concerns and complaints to management.
  • Complying with food safety policies, relevant safety, hygiene and service standards and procedures.
  • Working effectively with kitchen team.

CLIPPER/WARE WASHER – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Will be responsible for setting up the clipper which will include:  Preparing soaking solutions for silverware; closing the drain; placing floor mat in proper position; putting liners in the trash barrels, proper placement of strainers, setting up empty racks; inspecting racks for dirty dishes from overnight, making sure chemicals are on bottom shelf of rack; putting out any remaining clean dishes; setting up empty trays for dirty dishes.
  • Will be responsible for stocking serving lines with dishes.
  • Will assure that no bones or trash are in the disposal trough.
  • Will empty bus carts within 9 minutes which includes:  Putting all trash and bones in trash barrel; putting silverware in soaking tub before putting in clipper; emptying cups/glasses and putting in rack; and rinsing dishes as needed.
  • Will be responsible for putting dishes in clipper.

GROUNDS – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist in cleaning away leaves, paper, scrape gum from sidewalks, and litter from entry areas.
  • Assist in removing snow from sidewalks and stairs using snow shovels.
  • Assist in spreading salt in the walkways before, during, and after inclement weather.
  • Assist in cleaning and sanitizing loading dock or sidewalks using a power sprayer.

RESPONSIBILITIES – ANCILLARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for attending all scheduled meetings/training, as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
