Description

Supports individuals through direct interaction/intervention to reach optimum level of independence and vocational development through vocational training and positive behavioral supports, to include training within the community and through center-based services.  Further enhances individual’s level of independence through life skills training during Group Training classes. 

WAGES: $15/hr.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency (G.E.D., HiSET, TASC)
  • Experience working with people with developmental disabilities preferred, but not necessary.

HIRING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Must posses a valid Oklahoma Drivers License in order to operate Agency vehicles.
  • Pass OSBI, MVR, DHS Registry Check, reference checks, pre-employment drug test and any other background check as Agency requires or deems necessary.

  • Safety Sensitive Position Identification:  A safety sensitive position (SSP) is a position in   which an individual has a key and direct role in an activity where impaired performance could result in: 
    • a serious incident, or
    • an improper or inadequate response to a potentially serious incident.

RESPONSIBILITIES – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Community Setting (Enclaves):

Provides continual direct supervision and ensures safety of individuals participating in the program; this is non-negotiable and includes but is not limited to the following activities:

  • No cell phone or electronic devices usage during work times
  • No extended time away from the assigned work area, i.e. hanging out in the break area, etc. while individuals are in the work area.
  • No reading (non-work related) and/or homework during work times
  • Not engaged in any other activity that distracts from continual supervision of individuals during work times

Violation of the above will lead to immediate dismissal.

Transports individuals to and from enclave/volunteer sites as scheduled, using a DRTC wheelchair accessible van and/or assisting with the route vans.

Provides direct training for individuals on enclave/volunteer sites, including specific task related training and adjustment to the work environment, particularly as it relates to established outcomes identified in the IP.

Provides for crises intervention in the community if necessary and ensuring the safety of the individuals during such times.

Maintains all on-site records, including work tickets and attendance records accurately, and obtains information from the enclave/volunteer site supervisor on individual performance, if requested.

Provides quality control checks on tasks/work completed by individuals at enclave/volunteer sites and ensures all deadlines and work order expectations as set by the site are met.

Oversights medications for those assigned to the crew.

JOB CONDITIONS:

Normal working hours are from 8:00 - 4:00 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, but hours could vary.  A thirty-minute working lunch is taken with the individuals while out in the community, however if working onsite  a thirty minute lunchbreak  can be taken away from the individuals.  Two 15 minute breaks if scheduling allows, but must be taken with the individuals when assigned to an enclave.

This position is classified under Excluded Remote Work Designation – less than 10% of job functions can be typically completed remotely based on a 40 hour per week work schedule.  Not eligible for remote work designation.

This position is non-exempt and receives overtime pay at one and one half times the regular rate of pay for all hours worked over 40 hours in a workweek beginning Saturday 12:00am through Friday midnight.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The following physical requirements are necessary to meet this Job Description:

  • Standing up to eight hours
  • Able to move maximum weight of 50 pound (vertically)
  • Able to move maximum weight of 25 pounds (horizontally)
  • Able to move the above described weights a maximum distance of 100 feet
    • Regularly required to talk with or listen to others.
    • Frequently required to sit and use hands to handle/feel objects, tools or controls.
    • Vision requirements include depth perception, ability to see peripherally and ability to adjust vision to bring objects into focus.
    • Required to be able to operate a vehicle for travel/transportation purposes.
  • Additional physical requirements to be considered depending on the community setting for DRTC’s enclave’s or in-house production center training and the skill being trained. This can include sitting, bending, stooping, moving, grasping and stretching.
  • The demands of the job include being individually responsible for a group of clients and therefore must be able to physically demonstrate first aid skills including seizure care; perform CPR; use an AED and perform the Heimlich maneuver.

CERTIFICATION OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS (at Agency’s expense):

  • DDS approved CPR/Standard First Aid Training
  • Foundation Level Training (FLT)
  • Effective Teaching and Learning (ETL)
  • Medication Administration Tech. Certification (MAT) - if assigned to enclave
  • Employment Training Specialist (ETS)
  • Agency Staff Certification Test (A.S.C.T.)
  • Ongoing training for job specific, professional, and personal development
