Description

The Efficiency Production Trainer is a newly created position at DRTC specifically for an AmeriCorps member to construct/design new training programs with the intent of improving output efficiencies in DRTC’s Production Center. Currently, staff are focused primarily on providing support to and assisting clients complete various jobs. The Efficiency Production Trainer(s) would be able to work with both clients and staff to identify and implement efficiency-improving techniques, with the overall objective to raise Production Center efficiencies by at least 10%. These improved efficiencies will help not only make DRTC’s Production Center more marketable for partnering customers, but also help clients learn how to streamline work activities that will help them if they decide to seek community-based employment.

WAGES: $400.00/bi-weekly living allowance (under Red River Community Corps Quarter-Time designation)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency (G.E.D., HiSET, TASC)
  • Experience working with people/students with disabilities preferred.
  • Experience providing training/instruction to people with disabilities a plus.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing facility setting preferred.

HIRING REQUIREMENTS:

  • 18 years of age or older;
  • Pass OSBI, MVR, DHS Registry Check, reference checks, pre-employment drug test and any other background check as Agency requires or deems necessary.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Standing up to eight hours per day
  • Able to move maximum weight of 50 pound (vertically)
  • Able to move maximum weight of 25 pounds (horizontally)
  • Able to relocate the above-described weights a maximum distance of 100 feet
  • Regularly required to talk with or listen to others.
  • Frequently required to sit and use hands to handle/feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Vision requirements include depth perception, ability to see peripherally and ability to adjust vision to bring objects into focus.
  • Additional physical requirements include sitting, bending, stooping, lifting, grasping and stretching.

NOTE - Staff will be counseled for lifting more than maximum weight or for non-use of required Safety Equipment.

JOB CONDITIONS:

This position is designated as Quarter-Time through the Red River Community Corps, requiring at least 450 service hours by each member. Hours per week are flexible, but typically range from 20-25 weekly depending on start date to attain the designated service hours requirement.

DRTC’s main campus working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is eligible for a 30-minute lunch break and up to two 15-minute breaks if scheduling allows.

This position is non-exempt and receives overtime pay at one- and one-half times the regular rate of pay for all hours worked over 40 hours in a workweek beginning Saturday 12:00am through Friday midnight.

REPORTS TO: DDS Programs Director/Production Coordinator

AGENCY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must have knowledge of DRTC’s Mission and Philosophies.
  • Must be familiar with all DRTC policies/procedures and organizational structure of the agency, including all agency safety and emergency procedures.
  • Position serves as a role model to individuals. Mannerisms and responses must be appropriate and conducive to the work environment.
  • Maintains a professional relationship with agency stakeholders and guests
  • Uses agency tools and procedures to insure organization and consistency

RESPONSIBILITIES – Essential Functions:

  • Develop an awareness for the types of Production Center jobs worked at DRTC in assigned area.
  • Coordinate with DRTC staff to identify possible efficiency-building opportunities.
  • Observe DRTC clients in their daily work activities to determine possible methods of increasing efficiencies.
  • Design person-centered efficiency-building strategies.
  • Implement individualized training (either directly with clients/staff or in small group settings) that helps DRTC clients/staff become more efficient in their work tasks.
  • Assess effectiveness of efficiency training and provide ongoing support.
  • Develops and maintains efficiency records to track progress.
  • Provide reporting to supervisor(s) as scheduled/requested
  • Protects individuals’ personal information in accordance with HIPAA. All individual information and program specifics are to be held in strict confidence - at no time discuss an individual in the presence of clients/staff not involved with that individual or family.

RESPONSIBILITIES – Ancillary Functions:

Assists with improving Production Center efficiencies.
