Description

Supports individuals through services and training to reach optimum level of independence and vocational development through daily living skills and vocational training. Implements identified goals/outcomes for each individual as directed by the Coordinator. Provides direct interaction/intervention with the individuals.

Maintain a high level of professionalism. Individuals look to staff as role models, all mannerisms and responses need to be age appropriate and conducive to the work environment. Holds all individual information and program specifics in strict confidence - at NO TIME discusses an individual in the presence of staff, parents, or others not involved with that individual.

Wages: $15.00/per hour

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency (G.E.D., HiSET, TASC)
  • Experience with working with people with developmental disabilities preferred
  • CNA experience preferred, but not required.

HIRING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Must have a valid Oklahoma Drivers License
  • Must be able to pass OSBI, MVR, DHS Registry Check and any other background check as agency is required or deems necessary

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have regular and punctual attendance
  • Must be able to make quick and logical decisions
  • Maintain valid Oklahoma driver’s license
  • Able to pass bi-annual motor vehicle report checks in accordance with established Agency guidelines
  • Organizational and planning skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. An acceptable level of reading and writing ability
  • High degree of confidentiality
  • Flexible and able to adapt with change to a variety of work settings and program needs
  • Safety Sensitive Position Identification: A safety sensitive position (SSP) is a position in which an individual has a key and direct role in an activity where impaired performance could result in: a serious incident, or an improper or inadequate response to a potentially serious incident.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Standing up to eight hours
  • Able to move objects with a maximum weight of 50 pound (vertically)
  • Able to move objects with a maximum weight of 25 pounds (horizontally)
  • Able to move the above described objects a maximum distance of 100 feet.
  • Regularly required to talk with or listen to others. Frequently required to sit and use hands to handle/feel objects, tools or controls. Vision requirements include depth perception, ability to see peripherally and ability to adjust vision to bring objects into focus.
  • Required to be able to operate a vehicle for travel/transportation purposes.
  • Additional physical requirements to be considered depending on the training and the skill being trained and can include sitting, bending, stooping, moving, grasping and stretching.
  • The demands of the job include being individually responsible for a group of clients and therefore must be able to physically demonstrate first aid skills including seizure care; perform CPR; use an AED and perform the Heimlich maneuver.

CLE’s current programming requires the following but is subject to change:

  • Perform a two-person lift of an individual weighing up to 120 lbs. to/from the bathroom changing table/wheelchair at least once/day.
  • Perform a one-person lift/transfer of an individual weighing approx. 75 lbs. to/from wheelchair/toilet with a gait belt at least once/day.
  • Perform a one-person transfer of individuals weighing up to approx. 180 lbs. to/from wheelchair/toilet with a gait belt several times/day.

NOTE - Staff will be counseled for failure to adhere to maximum weights or for non-use of required Safety Equipment.

JOB CONDITIONS:

Normal working hours are from 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Monday through Friday with 30 minutes for lunch with the individuals. Two 15-minute breaks if scheduling allows.

This position is classified under Excluded Remote Work Designation – less than 10% of job functions can be typically completed remotely based on a 40 hour per week work schedule. Not eligible for remote work designation.

This position is non-exempt and receives overtime pay at one and one half times the regular rate of pay for all hours worked over 40 hours in a workweek beginning Saturday 12:00am through Friday midnight.

RESPONSIBILITIES – Essential Functions:

  • Provides continual supervision and ensures the safety of all individuals.
  • Assists in implementing activities/training that corresponds to the Individualized Plan (IP) and the Program monthly schedule.
  • Provides one-on-one training with individuals and may oversight small group activities, as assigned.
  • Is first level intervention in minor behavioral concerns and documents appropriately. Keeps the Coordinator informed any behavioral concerns.
  • Documents daily the Individual Activity Chart forms for individuals in the program as assigned by the CLE Coordinator.
  • Drives agency vehicle as assigned for community outings/activities.
  • Assists individuals in eating as identified in the IP, allowing for maximum independence. May include actually feeding someone.
  • Assists individuals in retrieving or preparing their lunch as needed, allowing for maximum independence.
  • Assists individuals with bathroom needs as necessary, allowing for maximum independence. May include transferring, assistance with clothing or changing.
  • Assists in the lifting and transfer of individuals as identified in the IP.
  • Assists individuals in walking as needed, allowing for maximum independence.
  • Assists individuals in wheelchairs navigate their environment, allowing for maximum independence.
