Project Overview

We are looking for a Data Center Operations Engineer who is responsible for offering support for all server related inquiries and problems. Manages and monitors, maintains servers and hardware appliances, performance of the servers, and resolves incidents as required. Elevates technical issues to higher level Engineer when access or server/appliances issues cannot be resolved. This person reports to the Data Center Operations Lead/Operations Manager. 

  • The Data Center Operations Center (DC OPS) Engineer (Level 3) is responsible for offering support for all server related inquiries and problems. Manages and monitors, maintains servers and hardware appliances, performance of the servers, and resolves incidents as required. 

  • Elevates technical issues to higher level Engineer when access or server/appliances issues cannot be resolved. 

  • The Data Center Operations Engineer reports to the Data Center Operations Lead/Operations Manager. 

What you can expect & what we want you to do

  • Provides operational support, track update and resolve all assigned incidents, changes and problem reports in the incident management system, ensuring that documentation is thorough, accurate and meets a standard of high quality. 

  • Log Incidents accurately and establish and record root cause upon resolution of outages 

  • Properly escalate incidents in a timely manner per support guidelines and procedures. 

  • Proactively monitor, recognize, analyze, isolate and/or resolve documented hardware and software problems utilizing a variety of hardware and software testing tools and techniques. 

  • Deployment and maintenance of server monitoring, analysis and reporting tools.  

  • Deliver remote planned maintenance activities in line with the Maintenance Schedule, following documented processes and procedures, including roll back 

  • Accomplish assigned work orders by performing necessary configurations and changes of the datacenter environment 

  • Support, maintain and improve local datacenter services like Lync / Exchange / SCCM  

  • Maintains servers and support sip appliances, storage appliances, security devices, appliances or other datacenter equipment’s for multiple locations and ensure documentation is accurate and up-to-date 

  • Actively monitor datacenter stability, bandwidth and performance. Makes proposals where needed to increase availability and stability 

  • Creates and maintains documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, and processes 

  • Identifies and resolves communication hardware and software related failures and issues 

  • Ensures accurate and consistent updates to the Configuration Management Database 

  • Liaise with higher level support groups and/or development groups to collaborate on the resolution of incidents. 

  • Perform detailed analysis and troubleshooting of network problems and incidents 

  • Performance reporting and improvement recommendations 

  • Suggests areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions 

  • Oversees/performs new and existing equipment, hardware and software upgrades. 

  • Maintain technical skills through participation in ongoing training. 

  • participate in a 24x7 call-out rotation 


What you are good at & what you’ll need to win

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science / Engineering or Telecommunications or relevant certification in IT / Telecommunications 

  • Minimum 2-4 years of work experience in administering and supporting datacenters

  • Microsoft MCSA or equivalent experience in administrating Active Directory is required 

  • VMware VCP6 / VCP6.5 and or equivalent certifications for virtualization technology preferred 

  • Very Good understanding of concepts of system architectures and operating systems 

  • Experienced in hardware (x86-64) : SAS and FC Cabling, Network Cabling , Server Type hardware assembling, IBM / Dell Blades experience  

  • Very good Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting servers operating systems  

  • Good understanding of IP routing and subnetting  

  • Knowledge of Operating Systems firewalls and their administration  

  • Strong experience with Active Directory and all related services:  KMS, FDS, WDS, WSUS, PKI, FS, Print 

  • Experienced in System Center Configuration Manager architecture and deployments 

  • Experienced in DNS (Unix/AD), DHCP (Unix/AD)  

  • Experienced with Enterprise PKI deployments using Windows 2012/2016 

  • Experience with Load Balancer published applications 

  • Excellent scripting experience in PowerShell and Bash 

  • Experienced Exchange 2013/2016 DAG Clusters and Exchange Topologies 

  • Experienced Lync 2013 / SFB 2015 Enterprise Deployments and Troubleshooting  

  • Experience in Unix / Linux SMTP gateways 

  • Advanced knowledge of ESXi clusters:  HA and DRS deployments, Update and Maintenance for Clusters 

  • Advanced experience in VMware Horizon 7 Clusters  

  • Experience with EMC Data Domain or other hardware deduplication appliances  

  • Experience with EMC Networker and Veeam Backup & Replication software’s 

  • Experienced in recognizing and correct server hardware issues 

  • Experienced in creating Data Center / Network maps and drawings with Visio / PowerPoint  

  • Availability to perform maintenance activities outside of normal business hours 

  • Experience working with a ticketing system and responding to customers promptly  

  • Experience with Fiber Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), iSCSI over TCP 

  • Advanced Experience with VMware NSX and SDN 

  • Advanced Experience with VMware VSAN enabled ESXi clusters

  • Fluent in English  

  • Excellent customer service and communications skills
