Description

Position Title: Human Resource Director

Position Status: Full-time

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Position Summary:

As part of the Senior Management team, the HR Director develops and administers strategies, policies and programs relating to all phases of Human Resources activity within the company. This person works closely with functional department heads to ensure the HR strategy is in support of the overall business strategy and organizational goals.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides leadership and supervision to the S & S Human Resources, IT, and Facilities Teams; fosters a healthy team culture and invests in growth and development

  • Collaborates with Leadership Team to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention, with the objectives of continually reducing employee turnover and enhancing employee engagement and company culture

  • Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs

  • Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; employee relations; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development

  • Develops and champions on-going training and leadership development initiatives

  • Motivates all site teams to achieve continuous process improvement, self-development, cross-training, safe behaviors, high performance teamwork and a customer service focus 

  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring, onboarding, and talent management

  • Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization’s human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system

  • Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance

  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to Leadership Team

  • Oversees S & S Safety Program—participate in meetings, recommend policies and procedures, enforce safety policies and procedures, conduct safety audit tours, review accident analysis and trends, accident statistics and reports

  • Develops the budget for benefits, recruitment, talent development, employee relations and other human resource functions, and manages to that budget

  • Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff

  • Leads HR continuous improvement effort for processes and policies. Establish and report key HR performance metrics

  • Responds to inquiries from the community and other organizations regarding financial, public relations and/or advertising support

  • Works effectively with HR suppliers and/or coordinate their services: Benefits programs, employment law services, facilities management, security, communications, furniture, etc.

  • Participates on special project teams as assigned

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred

  • 8+ years of leading an HR function, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred

  • Multi – site and manufacturing experience preferred

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
