Job Summary :

Performs all activities necessary to process payroll, including maintenance of related employee data within the SAP system. Duties include all end-to-end processes for Payroll related activities for North America, US and Canada, in accordance with compliance laws in both countries. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel. Incumbent should have a minimum of 3-5 years' experience with SAP payroll processing. CPP and FCP is highly recommended.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Must have thorough knowledge of US, Canada and International payroll laws and regulations.

  • Performs all activities necessary to process 1 or more payrolls, including maintaining related time records, voluntary deduction reports, processing involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments, preparing accounting transactions and documents, documenting and updating desk procedures, and preparing special reports for management.

  • Set up and maintain an accurate account of all wage assignments, garnishments, levies, child support, and bankruptcy cases. Compose letters to inform third party vendors of employee terminations. Research state laws regarding maximum deductions for each of the above.

  • Duties may include checking and auditing timekeeping records for compliance with established standards, maintaining time and attendance records, posting changes in pay, and miscellaneous changes to pay records.

  • Performs a wide variety of record keeping and payroll processing activities, including computing wage, incentive, and overtime payments, calculating and recording payroll deductions, and processing termination vacation payouts.

  • Performs duties including balancing earnings and deduction totals, calculating and preparing general ledger entries if needed, inspecting automated system output such as registers and standard reports, determining and correcting out-of-balance conditions, calculating other pay such as military and jury duty pay, and processing garnishments and levies.

  • Work closely with the Payroll Manager with processing of payrolls and third-party vendor payments.

  • Process off-cycle check payments to employees as needed. Process void payments as needed.

  • Responsible for bank transactions. Must be able to compile and submit a payroll account bank transfer to cover payroll checks issued and payroll ACH transfers.

  • Responsible for check stop payments and ACH reversals with the banks in US and Canada. Records of such must be maintained on a regular basis.

  • Assist field operations with questions on paychecks, earnings, and/or payroll deductions.

  • Responsible for running edit reports for all divisions prior to processing payrolls each pay period. Will be responsible for SOX compliance on all reports required for payroll.

  • Always provides professional and courteous support to field personnel.

  • Must exhibit good analytical and organizational skills.

    Associates Degree or equivalent training required. Thorough knowledge of clerical/payroll and accounting routines. Must be able to operate PC and spreadsheet software with demonstrated proficiency in MicroSoft Office products. Payroll processing experience with SAP is necessary.


    A minimum five years' experience in payroll duties. A proven facility in data entry, customer service, and problem resolution is needed. Must have strong organizational and math skills. The equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.


    Perform diversified accounting, payroll, clerical and record keeping duties involving knowledge of related procedures and policies. Use of judgment in the making of decisions within prescribed practices and procedures.


    Under direction, where standard practice enables the employee to proceed alone on a wide range of duties, referring unusual cases to supervisor.


    Contacts within the department, division or external providing information as necessary or requested where tact is required to avoid friction and obtain cooperation.


    Exposed to confidential data of major importance including payroll and financial records, which if disclosed may be detrimental to company.
