Description

Are you an ambitious finance professional looking for exciting challenges in the finance area? Would you love the opportunity to learn and use new technologies? Does the prospect of becoming a modern finance professional equipped with a full digital skillset inspire you?

This Accounts Payable Coordinator position provides a great opportunity to gain valuable experience at Dermalogica, a member of the Unilever Prestige division that consists of nine companies worldwide: Dermalogica, Murad, Kate Somerville, Ren, Living Proof, Hourglass, Garancia, Tatcha and most recently Paula`s Choice, which was acquired in June 2021. Six of these companies are based in the Los Angeles area, along with Dollar Shave Club, another Unilever subsidiary.

Dermalogica is a global brand in over 90 countries and is known worldwide as skin therapists premiere choice, offering the worlds most respected professional skincare line.

Role Overview:

Based at the corporate headquarters in Carson, a neighborhood of Los Angeles, we are looking for a candidate who is a self-starter and problem-solver with a strong can-do attitude. The person should have excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills. For this role, we prefer attitude and drive over work experience. Accounts payable experience is not a requirement, although basic accounting knowledge is preferred.

The candidate will manage the entire purchase-to-payment process from end to end, including vendor onboarding, Purchase Order workflow management, payments, matching, and month-end processes including accruals. The area is highly automated, so applicants should expect substantially less manual data entry and more systems and process management than would be found in a classic Accounts Payable job.

The successful applicant will be responsible for reviewing and improving the current processes and delivering improvements - simplification/automation - on a continuous basis. They will play a key role in managing the digital transformation in the accounts payable area, including the robotic automation process and exploring new accounts payable software and solutions.

The successful candidate will be supported and well-positioned for career advancement in finance in the mid- and long-term at Dermalogica or other LA-based companies under the Unilever Prestige division.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Managing the full-cycle accounts payable process from end to end including vendor onboarding, Purchase Order workflow management, payments, and reconciliations.
  • The role requires daily management of technologies and systems such as ERP Oracle JD Edwards, accounts payable solutions like Concur, accounting software like Blackline, robotic solutions like UiPath, or other online platforms like Bank of America online banking.
  • Managing payments and expenditures effectively and efficiently to ensure that vendors and suppliers are paid within established time limits.
  • Staying up-to-date on incoming inquiries to resolve urgent issues and requests from vendors and internal departments.
  • Assisting with the month-end close related to vendor statement reconciliation and accruals.
  • Leading and managing the digital transformation, including robotic process automation and process re-design.

Competencies:
  • Proactive self-starter who can seek out opportunities to improve on the status quo.
  • Ability to engage others, integrate into new situations, and work effectively in teams.
  • Curiosity and interest in emerging technologies, systems, and tools.
  • Having the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a dynamic environment.
  • Having the ability to effectively communicate with team members across different office locations and business units.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Basic accounting knowledge

Not required, but a plus:
  • Associates degree or higher, preferably in accounting or finance-related fields
  • Experience in Robotic Process Automation
  • Experience with Concur payables and expenses
  • Experience in Oracle JDE ERP
