As one of the nations largest single-source providers of lighting and electrical products, electrical services, electrical construction, and energy management solutions we are expanding our staff and seeking a HR Director of Employee Experience to join the corporate team, based in Austin, TX.

As the Director of Employee Experience, you will have the opportunity to structure an environment that attracts, retains and develops leaders by creatively finding solutions to the challenges facing todays workforce. The Director of the Employee Experiences' most critical work is to innovate and deliver an engaging and industry-leading suite of services that supports the complete employment life cycle of our employees. The person in this role will ensure that employees are equipped with the tools necessary to perform their roles, grow their careers, as well as oversee traditional human resources services such as onboarding, personnel policies, benefits administration, employee relations, allyship and diversity initiatives, and people development. Creativity and enthusiasm in proactively meeting and exceeding the organizations expectations related to these traditional human resources services will be a key component to your success as the Director of Employee Experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

    • Leading and working as part of a team responsible for innovatively managing the FSG HR Employee Experience Department.
    • Innovating the development of programs that build employees up to serve within a courageous and empathetic culture.
    • Creating a holistic, cohesive, innovative, and integrated hiring, onboarding, development, and retention system that fosters a growth mindset for FSG employees and results in exceptional employee experiences.
    • Proactively developing innovative solutions that resolve employee experience challenges within the organization

    • Overseeing all activities related to the functional aspects of administering organization-wide talent acquisition, benefits programs, personnel policies, performance management, and allyship/diversity efforts.
    • Creating successful systems that identify organizational and individual strengths and identify areas for continuous improvement, learning, and self-awareness that achieve individual self-management and wholeness.
    • Growing the FSG culture by working closely with team members throughout the organization to identify and implement tools and techniques that assess, diagnose, design, and deliver custom solutions needed to enhance individual and organizational effectiveness in support of the organizations purpose- to make FSG the employer of choice.
    • Supporting organizational effectiveness through data collection and analysis, workshop facilitation, content design, and project management.
    • Providing measurable progress in support FSG commitment to allyship, as represented in its organizational processes, systems, and outcomes.
    • Facilitating and implementing innovative change management initiatives associated with an agile, resilient, and flexible organization.
    • Frequently deliver presentations to a variety of audiences including employees, leaders, organizations, and board of directors.
    • Perform tedious, exacting work and must possess the ability to plan, organize, assign, direct and review activities of subordinate staff members.
    • Adjusting the course of action when necessary to meet commitments and responsibilities will be critical.
    • Travel throughout the region, and nation for the purposes of managing team, support process implementation, meeting with employees, gaining knowledge and information to perform many of your essential job functions.


    • 3+ years of experience in the construction or services industry, non-union environment.
    • 7+ years of progressive experience designing, improving, and overseeing a comprehensive suite of services that supports the complete life cycle of employees from job application to separation
    • 5+ years of progressive experience supervising, leading, and growing employees
    • Demonstrated success with creating innovative leadership strategies at a mid/large-sized organization (500+ FTE)
    • Ability to deliver large-scale programs in a clear and compelling manner; both in-person and virtually
    • Ability to collaborate, influence, and work effectively with colleagues and senior leadership to deliver exceptional results.
    • A valid Texas Drivers License (or ability to obtain one within 1 year) and acceptable driving record to frequently travel to other City offices, meetings, or conferences.
    • Deep experience with labor law, employee relations, policies and procedures.

    • Professional certification in areas of project management, organizational change management, organizational development, and human resources or the ability to obtain these certifications within a 12-month period after initial employment
    • Successfully equipped to address change and transformation and have exceptional relationship-building skills.
    • High Emotional Quotient and can build trust through positive working relationships
    • Comfortable operating in an environment where organizational power is decentralized throughout the organization.

    Organizational Agility: As Director, you must demonstrate the ability to recognize the interdependencies of other teams, functional areas, and Departments when making decisions; take personal ownership to influence recommendations, judgments, actions, and decisions related to advising stakeholders.
    Organizational Development Principles: You must understand organizational development concepts, data collection methods and analysis, human resources procedures and practices, and develop a broad familiarity with business operations, policies, and procedures.
    Policy Development: The Director of Employee Experience develops, writes, and interprets city policies and frequently writes letters and memoranda explaining Company policies and procedures.
    Multi-Tasking and Prioritization: You will constantly perform multiple tasks simultaneously, which requires frequent changing and prioritizing of tasks, under time pressures.
