Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Using specifications and input from Product Engineering, develops detailed designs, creates engineering models and drawings using Solidworks modeling software for parts, components and finished products. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Works with project lead(s) on assigned projects as design resource
  • Create complex 3-D models and any related 3-D assemblies with minimal direction
  • Analyzes engineering sketches, specifications and related data to determine design of size, shape and arrangement of parts
  • Creates rough layout of parts and determines angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, leverages and hole locations, etc
  • Drafts detailed multi-view prototype and production drawings of parts, sub assemblies, and assemblies and complete product
  • Conducts design reviews to determine if design changes are required
  • Reviews with manufacturing engineering to confirm manufacturability and assembly
  • Understand and adhere to engineering departmental goals, objectives, and strategy
  • Establish and maintain credibility throughout the organization as an effective developer of solutions

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Flexible, energetic, forward-thinking, and creative with high moral and ethical standards
  • Experience working as a CAD Designer (2+ years preferred) with proficiency using software like Solidworks, Creo, CoCreate, Solid Designer, Pro-E, Inventor, or similar software
  • Well organized and self-directed, able to prioritize multiple projects
  • Able to relate to people at all levels of the organization in a positive fashion
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Preferred: Working hands on knowledge of I.C. engines, materials, and manufacturing processes

 

PHYSICAL AND PPE REQUIREMENTS: 

Employee is regularly required to:

  • Stand
  • Use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls
  • Talk and hear
  • Walk, stoop, crouch and bend
  • Reach above shoulders
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception
  • Must comply with safety equipment standards; safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toed shoes

 

TRAVEL:

  • Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required
