Training and Development Manager, US Education

The US Training and Development Manager will focus on improving the productivity of the US Instructor teams and their skills and qualifications necessary to support Dermalogica retail and professional products and menu of skin services.
  • Manages the training function to develop and implement quality training programs that are aligned with company objectives and strategically support the US Education Instructor team, US Senior Training Specialists, and US Concept Space Professional Skin Therapists
  • Ensures design and administration of training programs to train all levels of personnel.
  • Keeps current with industry standards, training and development research, new materials, methods, and techniques.
  • Develops programs and practices to identify developmental needs including preparing educators for more responsible positions and increasing effectiveness in present assignments.


As an integral part of the US education team, the Training and Development (T&D) Manager will work closely with the Director of Learning and Development to implement the following:
  • Consults with management, employees, and department to identify training needs and timelines to support US Education and US Marketing planning calendars.
  • Creates and manages the delivery of highly effective, results-driven training and development strategies to support the innovation calendar of products and services.
  • Guarantees collaborative partnerships with Global Education, US Senior Training Specialists, US National Account Managers, and US Medical Esthetician Education Lead to support the development and implementation of assigned training projects.
  • Develops and coordinates instructor onboarding process and training; conducts in-person new hire instructor training on a quarterly basis.
  • Develops, plans, and manages progression training plans for loft-based and field-based instructors at all levels (including Senior Training Specialists).
  • Supports the creation and maintenance of Flagship store service training materials with the assistance of the local instructor team.
  • Creates and documents training tools and processes, in a variety of formats including oral, written, online, audio and video.
  • Assists instructors and/or observe and coach one-on-one to improve performance which may include observation, feedback, and engaging employees to participate, take action, and commit to change.
  • Consults with subject matter experts to ensure the relevance of learning objectives and delivery methodology.
  • Designs, monitors, and manages learning projects and process metrics that are aligned to business strategy.
  • Reports on the effectiveness of training and development programs and utilize relevant data to revise or recommend changes to instructional methods or objectives.

  • Extensive experience working and partnering with cross-functional business leaders in all disciplines and delivering against business goals.
  • Experience building learning and talent programs for the development and retention of talent.
  • Skilled at developing and managing relationships with internal departments and external vendor partners for training support.
  • Knowledge of learning theory, instructional design, and adult learning principles.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience preparing training and development communications.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills both in person and virtual.
  • Strong communication, influencing, and consulting skills with the ability to organize and express ideas clearly, position thoughts and perspectives effectively, and influence for support of shared projects and outcomes .

  • Holds a current State Board Esthetics License.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years previous experience instructor training and/or mentoring.
  • Strong knowledge Microsoft Office 365 applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of distance learning tools including zoom and Microsoft Teams.
  • General knowledge of Docebo and/or Learning Management Systems a plus.
  • General knowledge of Articulate 360 and/or instructional design authoring applications a plus.
