The CNC 5-Axis Machinist/Programmer is responsible for interpreting Technical Drawings and setting up metal working processes; work holding fixtures, process steps, equipment and tooling selection.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Interpret technical drawings and use knowledge to setup metal working processes, work holding fixtures, process steps, equipment and tooling selection.
Write programs on 2&3 - 5 axis machines using Mastercam.
Setup and prove out processes on 5 Axis CNC Mazak & Haas machines. Programmer will operate machine manually to perform non-automated functions and when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions.
May fabricate dies, jigs and fixtures for work piece orientation or work holding.
Monitor CNC processes and implement proactive solutions; process improvements, line flow, quality, efficiency
Develop machine set-ups, program edits, and working with tolerances to +/- .0001”
Measurement and inspection of parts using micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, and various other inspection equipment
Other duties as assigned**

Required Skills
Ability to read CAD models and 2-D prints and update paperwork neatly, accurately, and in an organized manner
Must possess trouble-shooting skills and ability to think critically.
Must be able to work independently, but also demonstrate an ability to work productively within a team environment.
Flexible, ability to work in a fast pace constantly changing environment with tight deadlines.
Ability to work with and provide feedback to various departments and customers within the shop and externally.

Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Five (5) years’ experience in 5 (3+2-axis) CNC programming and machining using Mastercam Software
Complete working knowledge of GD&T (ANSI Y14.5) and proficient in reading/understanding part manufacturing drawings
Experience on Mazak & Haas machining centers. Experience with programming of several other CNC Milling centers and controls (Fanuc/Mazatrol/Heidenhain) a plus.
Mastery of high-speed machining and tool path optimization.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Although a first shift position, may require periodic 2nd shift and weekend work All candidates selected will be subject to a background investigation and drug screen
To conform to U.S. Government International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
