What you will do:
The incumbent should have a working knowledge on a broad range of human resources, labour relations, personnel practices and techniques, recruitment, selection and staffing and supports change management initiatives. Familiar with employment procedures; applicable labour laws and regulations; current labour relations issues and jurisprudence, recruitment/selection and staffing.
The primary function of the Human Resources Generalist is to oversee and coordinate the consistent implementation and administration of the collective agreement, and employee/union issues. The incumbent reports to the Human Resources Manager at the Whitby Facility.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Human Resources Generalist primarily supports both the Cambridge Mill and Whitby Shredder business divisions however, may be required to provide additional support to other divisions from time to time and responds to employee/union issues as they arise in the form of grievances/complaints and proactively addresses issues.

- Responsible for ongoing administration of the Collective Agreement, including participation on the negotiating team, undertaking staff development to meet ongoing needs.
- Investigates complaints of harassment, and misconduct.
- Drafts, implements and administers policies and procedures to meet the directives of the above.
- Responsible for manning and recruitment and sets strategic directives in this area.
- Provides consultation services to front-line Supervisors and Managers in all matters regarding discipline and performance issues for all employee groups.
- A university degree or college diploma with a concentration in human resources management
- 3-5 years of experience in Labour-Management Relations (preferably in an industrial setting)
- A CHRP designation (or in the process of working towards) would be an asset.
What we offer:
- This is a one-year contract position located at the Cambridge Mill with some travel required to the Whitby location as needed.
Additional Information:
- All successful candidates must pass a post-medical and ergonomic assessment.
- Background, education and criminal record check will be performed.
- Must have the ability to travel to the Whitby facility as required.
