Description
BASIC FUNCTION:
The Routine Facilitator I is responsible for ensuring standardization of process within their assigned area of responsibility. Ensures that standardized processes are properly documented and that the required training is provided to personnel responsible for operating to the standards. Assists in failure analysis when significant problems occur and compares performance to existing standards. Makes appropriate updates to standards when needed. Performs audits of performance against standards and develops appropriate corrective action to ensure compliance.
DIMENSIONS:
1. Personnel Serviced 4 to 6 exempt
2 to 4 salary non-exempt
30 to 50 hourly production
2. Personnel Supervised The incumbent serves in an advisory and training capacity and interacts with exempt, non-exempt, and hourly customer service, sales, marketing, fulfillment and production employees on a regular basis. May be assigned to a specific crew.
3. Budget Responsibilty Indirect responsibility for Department budget as determined by Department policy.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
The primary function of the Routine Facilitator I is to ensure that routine process management efforts are carried out within his/her department within the corporate office and to assist with improvement efforts. This activity will include conducting needs assessments, develop and maintain inventory and sales order management processes, coaching of customer service team and supervisory personnel on inventory management within department, achieving cost control goals.
The Routine Facilitator will report directly to the Director of Marketing, but will also collaborate with the Forecast Managers and Area Leaders to ensure that the practices of the commercial department are sustained and continuously improved upon. This will include responsibilities related to the annual action plan as dictated by the Director of Marketing. Additionally, incumbents may be assigned to perform in specific areas of responsibility associated with profitability safety, cost, training, quality, etc. or may be assigned to a specific sales area crew to perform these facilitator responsibilities.
Qualifications for this position include a two year college degree in engineering, businesss administration, or related field - or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The incumbent should possess and demonstrate a working knowledge of the business system and of steel manufacturing methods. Previous qualifying experience on related work or lesser jobs of 1 - 3 years with practical training pertaining to sales, marketing, fulfillment, scrap processing, melting, casting, rolling, maintenance, finishing, and/or shipping/warehousing operations, and to include some supervisory and facilitation experience.
The incumbent will be responsible for documenting the standard processes to be used through the use of process control standards, management standards, routine procedures, job aids, and one point lessons through collaboration with hourly, non-exempt and supervisory personnel. In addition, the incumbent audits the workforce performance to the standards in accordance with sales order and inventory management practices and documents the results of these audits and provides the needed corrective actions to ensure performance to standards. This includes performing unscheduled audits on those poor performing processes and ensuring compliance with standards. Updates and changes standards when appropriate.
The incumbent maintains process procedures and policy and schedules the training needed to ensure clear communication of the standards to those responsible for compliance. Also coaches and develops the department's capabilities and provides follow-up support to ensure that these efforts are performed properly and oversees the execution of the action plans developed as a result of these efforts.
The incumbent tracks performance of control items and communicates this performance to the appropriate management team. Possesses the skills required to perform trend analysis of the performance data and to identify commonalities within the data, to include the requisite computer skills necessary to carry out these responsibilities. Must be able to communicate these results appropriately, to include formal presentations in front of a group of people.

Coaches and develops the department's capabilities
