Your Purpose:
You will be responsible for the training, guidance, and performance of a crew from the Melt Shop Furnace and the Caster department. You will be responsible for providing leadership guidance on establishing a productive, high performing, and safety conscious working team environment. The major role is to focus on all aspects related to safety, environmental, production, cost, quality, and people management through the continuous application of Gerdau Business System principles for the area of responsibility.

Qualifications Required:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 3-5 years of metal making experience and melt shop specific production knowledge is required.
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience is required.
- Understanding of process flow and priorities.
- Understanding of equipment functions.
- Effective written and oral communication.
- Ability to display empathy.
- Ability to sustain teamwork and collaboration.
- Orientation to achieve goals and meet/exceed expectations.
- Time management and organization.
- Self motivated..
- Ability to work a 12 hr. rotating schedule, days, nights, and two weekends a month.
Your Purpose:

Your Work:
- Manage a safe work environment, including proper housekeeping.
- Manage quality, productivity, and customer delivery promises.
- Motivate, mentor, and train of hourly workforce.
- Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve problems.
- Effectively communicate to ensure efficient operations .
- Complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough fashion.
- Willingness and ability to have immediate and direct conversations on critical alignment issues.
- Manage production flow.
- Determine and coordinate training (and cross-training) needed.
- Handle the resources needed by the team (PPE, tools, equipment).
- Manage vacation, call offs and additional personnel support that may be needed.
- Report and address shift performance numbers and issues..
- Involve department leadership team on safety, quality, environmental and production (delays greater than 90 minutes) issues.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged standing/walking, balance, bend from trunk, kneel, and push and pull objects.
- Ability to tolerate extreme ambient temperatures ranging from 0°F to 160°F.
- Ability to tolerate a swing shift work schedule.
- Ability to tolerate working in areas where noise levels can reach 120 decibels.
