Description
• The Director of Nursing Post Care Cardiac and Acute Stroke role provides leadership and support to the senior executive position (CNO) responsible for all nursing and other designated patient care functions/services within the hospital organization.
• The role will assume responsibility for assisting in assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice on a multi-unit level. Role assumes 24/7 responsibility of Director's assigned areas.
• The role is accountable to support CNO to ensure high quality, safe and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical staff, and appropriate resource management related to patient care.
• This position will support Acute Stroke and Cardiac Care.
Responsibilities for Internal Candidates
Active and current registered nurse license in the state of residence/practice. Has highly effective interpersonal and communication skills, proven leadership ability and hospital operational ability, and ability to serve as role model and advocate for the professional discipline of nursing.
Qualifications:
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• National Institutes of Health (NIH)
• Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
• Active unencumbered Registered Nurse Texas state license
• Graduate from a fully accredited Registered Nurse program
• One year of work experience as Director of Nursing Post Care Cardiac and Stroke
• One year of EMR experience
• Board Certified
• Required: Associate degree from an accredited nursing school with a bachelor's degree in a health care related field or a BSN.
ACLS
• Required: Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy. AHA BLS.
• Required: 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment as a manager or full-time charge nurse/related position.
• Preferred: MSN or master's in a health care related field.
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
• Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills.
• Participates in relevant continuing education programs.
• Knowledge of and dedication to the highest patient care and provide the utmost service excellence to all patients.
• Ability to take initiative and to exercise independent judgment, decision-making and problem-solving expertise.
• A can-do, team oriented attitude is essential, as the ability to work independently and to interact easily with physicians, other managers and staff throughout the department and hospital.
• Effective interpersonal/communication, organizational, and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks.
