Payroll Specialist
Saratoga County, NY
 
Fusco Personnel has been retained to recruit for a Payroll Specialist, for our client located in the Saratoga County, NY area. This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity offering a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
 
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for overseeing and processing payroll operations while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality. This role supports payroll administration, tax reporting, benefits coordination, auditing activities, and payroll system management. 
 
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience managing complex payroll functions in a fast-paced environment.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Process and manage payroll from start to finish, including timesheet review, wage calculations, deductions, bonuses, fringe benefits, and payroll distribution. 
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements. 
  • Prepare and file payroll tax forms, reports, and related documentation, including quarterly and annual filings. 
  • Maintain accurate payroll records, employee earnings data, payroll registers, and supporting documentation. 
  • Administer payroll-related employee benefits, deductions, and contributions, ensuring accurate processing and reporting. 
  • Reconcile payroll accounts, prepare journal entries, and collaborate with finance personnel to resolve discrepancies. 
  • Generate payroll reports for management, auditors, and regulatory agencies as needed. 
  • Manage payroll systems and software, troubleshoot issues, and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy. 
  • Support internal and external audits by providing payroll documentation and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. 
  • Maintain organized payroll files and records while safeguarding confidential employee information. 
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered. 
  • Minimum of 5+ years of payroll experience; construction industry payroll experience preferred. 
  • Strong understanding of payroll processing, payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and benefits administration. 
  • Experience preparing payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and payroll-related reporting. 
  • Proficiency with payroll software systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. 
  • Experience with Sage, construction payroll systems, or similar ERP/payroll platforms preferred. 
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
 
Salary
$72,000-$82,000
