SYSTEMS ENGINEER – SARATOGA
We are seeking an experienced, customer-focused engineer to serve as our Systems Engineer, bringing advanced technical skills to the design, rollout, support, and ongoing improvement of Microsoft cloud and data center environments. You'll work across platforms such as Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra, Intune, Exchange Online, VMware, Hyper-V, HP VME, Windows Server, and Veeam, splitting your time between hands-on delivery, troubleshooting, and advising customers on the best path forward. You'll also lend your expertise to the sales process, helping shape solutions, estimates, and professional services engagements before a project begins.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deploy, configure, migrate, and support Microsoft cloud, identity, virtualization, backup, and data center solutions.
- Design and build solutions across Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra, Intune, Exchange Online, VMware, Hyper-V, HP VME, Windows Server, and Veeam.
- Contribute to the planning, architecture, migration strategy, and scheduling of cloud and data center projects.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues, supporting both internal teams and customers.
- Coach customers and colleagues through training and knowledge transfer whenever it's needed.
- Guide customers through modernization efforts such as cloud adoption, hybrid infrastructure, Microsoft 365 migrations, identity upgrades, consolidation, virtualization, and backup and recovery planning.
- Earn customer trust by setting clear expectations, communicating openly, keeping your commitments, and resolving problems well.
- Manage your own technical tasks and projects with little day-to-day oversight.
- Stay sharp across cloud, identity, virtualization, security, backup, and infrastructure through ongoing learning and hands-on work.
- Support pre-sales activity, including technical discovery, solution design, bills of materials, engineering estimates, and professional services agreements.
- Offer technical leadership and escalation guidance to the customer support team.
- Help refine and standardize the company's Microsoft cloud, CSP, data center, and backup and recovery offerings and delivery practices.
- Look for ways to strengthen customer environments through standardization, modernization, automation, security, resiliency, identity management, and data protection.
- Keep growing through certifications, training, and self-study; some study may happen outside normal hours, and course materials and exam costs are typically covered.
- Take on additional responsibilities as business and technology needs change.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 7 or more years of systems engineering experience in a related field.
- Proven ability to resolve highly complex problems across the platforms listed above.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a track record of installing and supporting high-end systems reliably and efficiently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including strong presentation and writing ability.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- A clear view of current and emerging technology trends, with the judgment to make sound integration decisions.
- Willingness to keep certifications current and demonstrate a high level of competence on software and hardware as defined by management.
- Ability to follow company standards and procedures.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in one or more of the following: Office 365, Azure, Microsoft servers and networks, SANs, switching, firewalls, or wireless.
Travel: Daily travel to customer sites and appointments.
Status: Full-time, 40 hours per week, with occasional after-hours work for projects that require customer system downtime.
Salary: 125K – 150K
